JABS App — Jagdish Abotti Brahman Samaj

JABS is a private community app for members of the Jagdish Abotti Brahman Samaj. Access is limited to members whose accounts have been approved by an administrator. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and who can see it.

Information we collect

• Account information: your phone number (used to sign in via SMS verification), display name, address, and email address.
• Community directory information: administrators may record household details for the community directory, including head of family, other family members' names, address, phone, email, and free-form notes.
• Content: posts, photos, and videos published to the community feed by administrators.
• Push notification token: approved members' devices are registered to receive notifications about new community posts.
• Device integrity signals: the app uses Play Integrity (Android) to confirm requests come from a genuine, unmodified install of the app, rather than an automated script. This does not identify you personally.
• Crash and error diagnostics: if the app encounters an error or crash, technical details (error message, stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version) are sent to Firebase Crashlytics. These reports are tagged with your phone number so we can investigate issues linked to your account when you report a problem. This is used only to find and fix bugs — never for advertising, tracking, or marketing.

How your information is used

• To verify your identity and approve your membership.
• To operate the community feed and family directory for approved members.
• To send you push notifications about new community posts.
• To protect the app and its members from abuse or unauthorized access.
• To diagnose and fix crashes and errors when they occur.

Who can see your information

Approved members can see the community directory and feed, which may include other members' contact details as recorded by administrators. Administrators can see all member profiles, approve or remove members, and manage the directory and feed. Your information is never sold, and is not shared with advertisers.

Third-party services

The app is built on Google Firebase, which provides authentication, database, file storage, and push notification infrastructure. Data is stored and processed on Google Cloud infrastructure subject to Firebase's own privacy terms. The app does not use advertising SDKs or behavioral/usage analytics. It uses Firebase Crashlytics solely to capture crash and error reports for debugging — see "Crash and error diagnostics" above.

Data retention and deletion

Your account and directory information are retained while you remain a member. An administrator can remove your profile at any time. To request deletion of your data, contact us using the details below.

Security

All connections between the app and our servers are encrypted (TLS). Access to member and directory data is restricted by role — only approved members can read community data, and only administrators can manage members, posts, and the directory.

Children's privacy

This app is intended for adult members of the community and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
